Hours and Location

Hours of Operation

The core facility is staffed Monday - Friday, 9 AM – 6 PM.

The core is accessible to trained users around the clock, 365 days a year, including holidays. Limited remote support is available during unstaffed hours should trained users encounter any issues that they cannot resolve independently.

Location

The CSCI Flow Cytometry Core Facility is located at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center campus in the Washington Heights neighborhood in Upper Manhattan of New York City.

The core maintains three spaces on campus in the Vagelos Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S), William Black (BB), and Hammer Health Science Center (HHSC) buildings.

  • VP&S 11511 serves as the main core space and houses cell sorters and core facility office. You can find the Sony MA900, Invitrogen Bigfoot, FACSDiscover S8, and FACSAria cell sorters in VP&S 11511.
  • VP&S 11501 (the “Annex”) houses the analyzers and imaging flow cytometer. You can find the NovoCyte cell analyzers, Sony ID7000 spectral cell analyzer, and the Amnis ImageStream-X MkII imaging flow cytometer in VP&S 11501.
  • Hammer 1211A is our satellite facility. Two analyzers, the NovoCyte Penteon and BD LSR Fortessa, and one cell sorter, the FACSDiscover S8 cell sorter, are maintained in Hammer 1211A.

Single cell capture genomics equipment (10x Genomics and BD Rhapsody) is located in rooms 1116 of the William Black Building, and qPCR instruments are located in room 1119 of the Wiliam Black Building.

Note that the VP&S and Black buildings are connected. BB 1116 and BB 1119 are located adjacent to the CSCI Flow Cytometry locations in the VP&S building.
