Seeking Lab Manager for Passegué Lab

Seeking an outstanding laboratory manager with expertise in mouse experiments and flow cytometry to study the cellular and molecular processes controlling the activity of blood-forming hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) during homeostasis, stress, disease and aging. This position is in the laboratory of Dr. Emmanuelle Passegué, Director of the Columbia Stem Cell Initiative and Professor in the Department of Genetics and Development at Columbia University Medical Center. The Lab Manager is expected to be an active member of the research team, to supervise and coordinate laboratory operation and protocols, and to ensure optimal performance of personnel and equipment and utilization of space and supplies. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic laboratory at the forefront of stem cell research.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with maintaining mouse colonies, genotyping, flow cytometry, transplantation experiments, cell culture, cell biology, molecular biology, confocal imaging, histological analyses, etc.
• Experience with managing equipment and in overseeing protocols, maintaining records, managing database and working closely with administrative and financial personnel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to train and assist other lab members. Scientific growth will be encouraged, and research projects will be assigned as needed.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, genetics, developmental biology, biomedical engineering, or an equivalent, and at least 4 years of related experience. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
