New CSCI Headquarters Remodeling Has Begun

April 2, 2018 marked the official start of the remodeling work for the new Columbia Stem Cell Initiative (CSCI) headquarters located on the 11th floor of the William Black Building at 650 West 168th Street. A small groundbreaking ceremony took place between Dr. Passegué, several CSCI officials, and Fernando Bedoya and his CUIMC Facilities Management team. All the laboratory facilities previously occupying the floor have been relocated elsewhere, including Dr. Corneo’s Columbia Stem Cell Core, which is now temporarily housed on the 4th Floor of the Black Building in room 448. While the Physiology Conference room will remain open to accommodate CSCI events during most of the remodeling period, the elevators will no longer stop on the 11th floor, and the demolition work will start in earnest by the end of April. The anticipated completion is planned for January 2019, and we will keep you updated on the progress of our new CSCI headquarters.
